Highlighters and Luminizers

, , , , , , , , ,

I’ve never really been in to highlighters, but now that the holidays are over & my fabulous dark JLo tan has faded into a light bronze, I’ve been playing around with self tanners and highlighters more than ever. Below are a few highlighters that I found on Polyvore that sounded fun! I tried the NYX one and it was a little too shimmery/shiny for my taste, but I absolutely loved the Laura Geller one! Previously, I had only tried her makeup primer, so I wasn’t sure how her powders would go on. The baked highlighters was perfect for just a little daytime/work appropriate highlighting and with a heavier hand, it was awesome for evening. It almost gives you a candle-lit glow!

Would love to hear about any highlighters that you are loving…. Have a great week loves and I hope everyone’s new year is off to a great start! ~xo, love~

Kimono Krazy

LOGO22While most of the country is buried under the “polar vortex,” all I can think about is Spring! I’m dreaming of lounging at my pool, basking in the sun, traveling to the West Coast and breezy maxi dresses. One of my favorite pieces of Spring gear is the kimono. It can instantly spice up a blah outfit, and you can throw it on over everything from jeans to shorts, a bikini, or even a simple  dress. The boutique Soleil Blue sells a lot of my favorite ones, I especially love the sheer chiffon fabrics & pastel colors.

All items below available on www.soleilblue.com. Photos courtesy of Soleil Blue.

Also, while this isn’t a kimono, I am completely obsessed with this Acacia dress below also from Soleil Blue. It is available in 5 different colors and this mango color is absolutely amazing….. paired with a chunky faux diamond necklace like this little $20.00 steal from Forever 21, it is absolute Spring perfection! ~xo~

silverandgoldThis year I found myself invited a little holiday gatherings here and there and those can always be stressful, especially if the host or hostess is someone you don’t know very well. Well today I’ve got some great holiday hostess gift ideas for home & body featuring some goodies from Voluspa, Skin & Co. Roma & more!

I was excited to try the new Umbrian Truffle body line from one of my fav brands, Skin & Co. Roma. Their new ultra-rich Truffle Body Oil is amazingly hydrating and the best part is that it comes in a convenient spray bottle. Definitely the perfect apres-shower luxury! I also love how on each bottle they tell you what’s in the product and what’s not. In this case:

What’s In It? Organic Sunflower Oil, Truffle Extract
What’s Not? Sulfates, Parabens, Mineral Oils, Phtalates, Petrolatum, Paraffin.

They also have a Winter Wonderland gift collection that ranges from $25 and under to $100. These are truly great gifts for the beauty lover in your life because they get a try a little of everything! In addition to being available for purchase on their website, Skin & Co Roma products are available at select Look Boutiques inside Duane Reade & Walgreen’s locations nationwide.

Voluspa provides the perfect hostess gift and they have a scent to please any palette! From floral to fruity and mild to musk, their candles and home oils can make any home smell like a holiday wonderland. Z Gallerie is also one of my go-to spots for hostess gifts. Whether you’re in the market for silver frames, crystal bar ware or decorative items, they have a wide range of gifts to choose from at every price point. I may or may not have purchased those champagne flutes for myself..but ssshh, don’t tell Santa!

Coming up next I’ve got an amazing review of Japanese skin care line, Tatcha. Happy holiday shopping loves! ~xo, love~

Tis The Season For Being Charitable

a5093105447c89c5261db50658facc84Happy November everyone! I don’t know about you but I am officially in full holiday mode. I decided not to fight it this year….even though it’s not quite Thanksgiving yet, I’ve embraced the holiday music on the radio, smiled when I saw holiday decor in the stores, and even indulged in a little Gingerbread Latte fun yesterday at Starbucks.

While I love all the things I just mentioned, one of my other favorite things about the holidays is the charitable giving. People love to open their hearts and their wallets for amazing causes all over & it really warms my heart to see such generosity.

While I have been living in the sunny sands of Miami for quite some time, I grew up in Pennsylvania & attended college in Philadelphia. I love keeping up with Philadelphia brands like Suburban Square & fab bloggers like Kate Concannon on Twitter & Pinterest, so I was thrilled to receive a lovely e-mail from the public relations gals at Philly PR Girl sharing an amazing charity event with me.

Per the official event press release, provided by Philly PR Girl:

uyThe Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) is excited to announce that its 8th Annual TOY event will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Fire & Ice. TOY is DVLF’s annual holiday fundraising event that raises money to support organizations serving the LGBTQ community while providing toys to benefit local children in need. Every year more than 400 guests come together at the best LGBTQ fundraiser in the city, as voted by Philadelphia Gay News three years in a row.

Guests can enjoy a night of dancing, light bites and charity-filled fun with one ticket purchase and one unwrapped toy donation. Proceeds from the event will support DVLF’s mission of meeting the emerging needs of the LGBTQ community. As in years past, the community additionally aims to make the holidays a little brighter for the area’s bravest children with the donated toys to benefit patients at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and children served by ActionAIDS.

Tickets are now on sale for $75 in advance or $95 at the door. For more information, please visit www.dvlf.org. To receive the latest updates, follow along on Twitter and on Facebook.

So if you’re in Philly, please check out this amazing event for an amazing cause, because when you do something good during the holidays, something good is sure to happen to you.. it’s the circle of charitable giving! :-)

Coming up next on love and labels, I can’t wait to share an amazing holiday gift guide & some great discount codes to help with the holiday shopping. Have a great week everyone! ~xo, love~

Time For An Oil Change

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

As the cooler Fall weather creeps in, it’s time to shake up that skin care routine. I love to add a light & moisturizing face oil to my beauty regimen as the cooler days prevail. Nothing too heavy or overpowering, just something simple to help moisturize while I sleep. Some days, I use a little before I put on my facial moisturizer, similar to how you would use a primer. Just a little dab goes a long way in creating a flawless face that will help you take on the day. Some of my favs are below- the Kiehl’s one is probably my all-time favorite. The smell is amazing & it feels unbelievable on my skin. The Sunday Riley oil I purchased a few months ago from Barney’s and at $125, it was a nice splurge.

I’ve heard so much about the Rodin oil, but have not yet tried it! What about you? Any face oils that you cannot live without this Fall? Have a great week! ~xo, love~

Fashion Fridays

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve been super busy working on a special holiday event & a feature on Hawaiian-based brand Yireh… lots of great things in the mix for the upcoming month. But I just had to share these adorable faux-suede heels from Forever 21 that I found out about from the lovely Andee Layne. At under $30.00, I simply had to get both colors. A gal can always use nude and black heels for work, cocktails & Holiday festivities. I also threw in this super cute gray pebbled tote and taupe cardigan. I am sucker for nude, black & gray wardrobe staples. I hope you all have a beautiful weekend & I hope you get to enjoy some gorgeous Fall weather! ~xo~ love

photo1Happy October! While it may be Fall everywhere, it is still gorgeous & a sunny 90 degrees here in Miami. I’ll admit it is a tad difficult to get into Fall when I’m still slathering on sunscreen at my pool, but I will force myself to break out the Fall-scented candles soon. But first, I wanted to share with you an amazing brand I discovered that is not only gorgeous, but eco-friendly as well.

Have you ever been scanning through Pinterest and all of a sudden you come across a brand that you have never heard of & suddenly find yourself loving everything about them? That’s what happened to me when I discovered the African-based brand, Lalesso.

Founders Alice and Olivia met while studying fashion design in Cape Town & an instant fashion friendship was born. According to their website, Lalesso also uses the creative talent of Kenyan artisans in many aspects of the designs, incorporating various design initiatives and supporting them in doing so. These include beaded bracelets on the swing tags, hand carved coconut buttons, masai beading, brass work among others. In 2010, the ladies were awarded “Women Of the Year” by Glamour magazine for being ethically responsible entrepreneurs. What an honor indeed!

The vibrant colors and unique fabrics are absolutely incredible and I just love the fact that they support sustainable, eco-friendly production facilities in both Kenya and South Africa. Utilizing the creativity & uniqueness of Kenyan artisans, they are not only supporting local fair-trade, but also empowering the local community in ways that truly change their lives.

You can shop directly from their website, or view the stockists map to see where the line is carried near you. They are having a fab sale going on now, so it’s a great time to scoop up some of their previous collections at a great price. Below are some of my favs. Happy weekend loves and happy shopping! ~xo, love~

SOBO Skin Care Collection

, , , , , , , , , , ,

BodoSkinCareRecently, I joined the Brand Backer team, which connects brands with bloggers to review new skin care, clothing lines & more. My first review is of SOBO Skin Care.

I received one 5 oz. sample of the Ultra HGF Youth Serum to test out for love and labels. Some background about the product– This innovative youth formula leverages the power of proven acetyl tetrapeptide-2 to help restore your skin to its former glory and help prevent signs of future aging. This light but potent formula also moisturizes dry skin and smooths for a glowing, velvety appearance.

I love that the products are made with organic ingredients like orange flower extract and strawberry oil & others proven to provide visible results like hyaluronic acid, and ceramide 3 to effectively and gently rejuvenate skin.

I used the serum in the morning before my regular skin care regimen & before putting on my makeup. It went on silky smooth & the smell was light & clean, which I really liked. I must admit, I used the small sample up pretty quickly so I obviously loved it! SOBO Skin Care also has other best sellers including their Anti-Aging Cream, Anti-Aging Eye Cream, and their natural face moisturizer & each item is quite reasonably priced for such quality products.

BONUS: love and labels readers can enter the code TRYSOBO to receive a 25% discount. The discount code does not expire and applies to your entire first purchase. Not valid in combination with other coupons.

For more information on this brand check out their website here & connect with them on social media!

Note: This is a sponsored post through Brand Backer & all opinions are my own.

The Mane Attraction

While I am still refusing to accept the fact that summer is (sort-of) over, I realize that it’s time do undo some of the damage I’ve caused my hair by spending endless hours in the sun over the past 3 months.

When it comes to my makeup regimen, I love love love mixing pricy pieces with budget-friendly finds. My favorite Chanel Les Beiges pressed powder and my favorite nude lip gloss from Maybelline. Or my Giorgio Armani foundation with my Rimmel mascara.  But one thing I have always splurged on is hair care. As someone with long thick tresses, I’ve always valued the benefit in using higher-end hair care products. Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing drugstore finds that are definitely easy on the wallet, but this post is dedicated to luxury hair care products that really makes heads turn & ask “Who did your hair?!”

If you’re like me and spent your entire summer at the pool or the beach, your hair is due for some deep conditioning & TLC. Two of my favorite hair care lines are J.F. Lazartigue and Rene Furterer & I’m sharing with you my top products from each line.

soin-carotte_usLet’s start with French brand J.F. Lazartigue. I discovered this brand many years ago when I went into a friend’s salon for their “Deep action carrot oil treatment.” Talk about an easy sell  – this  is what I refer to as liquid gold. And at $52.00 a bottle it is well worth the price tag. This is a pre-shampoo treatment that you leave on for up to 20-30 minutes before you take a shower then rinse before you shampoo. It’s as if you are coating your hair in rich vitamins that soak deep  into the follicles and repair heavy damage from sun, chlorine or blow-drying.

You can purchase J.F. Lazartigue products at high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus, fine salons, and at their website here. For my fellow Miami ladies, Neiman Marcus at Bal Harbour Shops has a great selection of J.F. Lazartigue products. :)

It’s no secret that good hair starts with a healthy scalp, and Italian line
Rene Furtcomplexe_5_regenerating_plant_extract_380_1_3erer has one of the best scalp treatments I have ever used! Complexe 5 is an amazing once a week scalp treatment that nourishes, hydrates, and revitalizes your scalp where it needs it most. The essential oils of lavender and orange smell amazing & you can feel it the moment you apply the product. Upon rinsing & washing you hair, you immediately can see a difference in your hair, whether long or short.

Complexe 5 runs around $35.00 and can be found at high-end beauty supply stores, fine salons, and websites like beauty.com. Have a great week & coming up next week I’ve got a new skin care partnership to share!  ~xo~ love and labels

Check out the gallery below for some of my fav products from both lines!
