Fashion Fridays

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve been super busy working on a special holiday event & a feature on Hawaiian-based brand Yireh… lots of great things in the mix for the upcoming month. But I just had to share these adorable faux-suede heels from Forever 21 that I found out about from the lovely Andee Layne. At under $30.00, I simply had to get both colors. A gal can always use nude and black heels for work, cocktails & Holiday festivities. I also threw in this super cute gray pebbled tote and taupe cardigan. I am sucker for nude, black & gray wardrobe staples. I hope you all have a beautiful weekend & I hope you get to enjoy some gorgeous Fall weather! ~xo~ love

photo1Happy October! While it may be Fall everywhere, it is still gorgeous & a sunny 90 degrees here in Miami. I’ll admit it is a tad difficult to get into Fall when I’m still slathering on sunscreen at my pool, but I will force myself to break out the Fall-scented candles soon. But first, I wanted to share with you an amazing brand I discovered that is not only gorgeous, but eco-friendly as well.

Have you ever been scanning through Pinterest and all of a sudden you come across a brand that you have never heard of & suddenly find yourself loving everything about them? That’s what happened to me when I discovered the African-based brand, Lalesso.

Founders Alice and Olivia met while studying fashion design in Cape Town & an instant fashion friendship was born. According to their website, Lalesso also uses the creative talent of Kenyan artisans in many aspects of the designs, incorporating various design initiatives and supporting them in doing so. These include beaded bracelets on the swing tags, hand carved coconut buttons, masai beading, brass work among others. In 2010, the ladies were awarded “Women Of the Year” by Glamour magazine for being ethically responsible entrepreneurs. What an honor indeed!

The vibrant colors and unique fabrics are absolutely incredible and I just love the fact that they support sustainable, eco-friendly production facilities in both Kenya and South Africa. Utilizing the creativity & uniqueness of Kenyan artisans, they are not only supporting local fair-trade, but also empowering the local community in ways that truly change their lives.

You can shop directly from their website, or view the stockists map to see where the line is carried near you. They are having a fab sale going on now, so it’s a great time to scoop up some of their previous collections at a great price. Below are some of my favs. Happy weekend loves and happy shopping! ~xo, love~

SOBO Skin Care Collection

BodoSkinCareRecently, I joined the Brand Backer team, which connects brands with bloggers to review new skin care, clothing lines & more. My first review is of SOBO Skin Care.

I received one 5 oz. sample of the Ultra HGF Youth Serum to test out for love and labels. Some background about the product– This innovative youth formula leverages the power of proven acetyl tetrapeptide-2 to help restore your skin to its former glory and help prevent signs of future aging. This light but potent formula also moisturizes dry skin and smooths for a glowing, velvety appearance.

I love that the products are made with organic ingredients like orange flower extract and strawberry oil & others proven to provide visible results like hyaluronic acid, and ceramide 3 to effectively and gently rejuvenate skin.

I used the serum in the morning before my regular skin care regimen & before putting on my makeup. It went on silky smooth & the smell was light & clean, which I really liked. I must admit, I used the small sample up pretty quickly so I obviously loved it! SOBO Skin Care also has other best sellers including their Anti-Aging Cream, Anti-Aging Eye Cream, and their natural face moisturizer & each item is quite reasonably priced for such quality products.

BONUS: love and labels readers can enter the code TRYSOBO to receive a 25% discount. The discount code does not expire and applies to your entire first purchase. Not valid in combination with other coupons.

For more information on this brand check out their website here & connect with them on social media!

Note: This is a sponsored post through Brand Backer & all opinions are my own.

While I am still refusing to accept the fact that summer is (sort-of) over, I realize that it’s time do undo some of the damage I’ve caused my hair by spending endless hours in the sun over the past 3 months.

When it comes to my makeup regimen, I love love love mixing pricy pieces with budget-friendly finds. My favorite Chanel Les Beiges pressed powder and my favorite nude lip gloss from Maybelline. Or my Giorgio Armani foundation with my Rimmel mascara.  But one thing I have always splurged on is hair care. As someone with long thick tresses, I’ve always valued the benefit in using higher-end hair care products. Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing drugstore finds that are definitely easy on the wallet, but this post is dedicated to luxury hair care products that really makes heads turn & ask “Who did your hair?!”

If you’re like me and spent your entire summer at the pool or the beach, your hair is due for some deep conditioning & TLC. Two of my favorite hair care lines are J.F. Lazartigue and Rene Furterer & I’m sharing with you my top products from each line.

soin-carotte_usLet’s start with French brand J.F. Lazartigue. I discovered this brand many years ago when I went into a friend’s salon for their “Deep action carrot oil treatment.” Talk about an easy sell  – this  is what I refer to as liquid gold. And at $52.00 a bottle it is well worth the price tag. This is a pre-shampoo treatment that you leave on for up to 20-30 minutes before you take a shower then rinse before you shampoo. It’s as if you are coating your hair in rich vitamins that soak deep  into the follicles and repair heavy damage from sun, chlorine or blow-drying.

You can purchase J.F. Lazartigue products at high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus, fine salons, and at their website here. For my fellow Miami ladies, Neiman Marcus at Bal Harbour Shops has a great selection of J.F. Lazartigue products. :)

It’s no secret that good hair starts with a healthy scalp, and Italian line
Rene Furtcomplexe_5_regenerating_plant_extract_380_1_3erer has one of the best scalp treatments I have ever used! Complexe 5 is an amazing once a week scalp treatment that nourishes, hydrates, and revitalizes your scalp where it needs it most. The essential oils of lavender and orange smell amazing & you can feel it the moment you apply the product. Upon rinsing & washing you hair, you immediately can see a difference in your hair, whether long or short.

Complexe 5 runs around $35.00 and can be found at high-end beauty supply stores, fine salons, and websites like Have a great week & coming up next week I’ve got a new skin care partnership to share!  ~xo~ love and labels

Check out the gallery below for some of my fav products from both lines!

Cheek Gloss in Rose

People always talk about their secret favorite beauty products. You know, those cult products that you have used for years, can’t live without, and sometimes you keep the fabulousness of said product to yourself because you don’t want to share you secret. Well today I am sharing one of my favorite products for Spring/Summer. It’s called Rosie Jane Cheek Gloss, by Australian makeup artist, Rosie Jane Johnston.

The cheek gloss comes in 3 shades: Poppy, Marigold, and Rose and comes housed in the most adorable little white compact. The beauty behind this product is that it gives you the tiniest hint of color on your cheek and has amazing staying power. The fact that it smells like a day at the beach…you know that smell of Coppertone  lotion from your childhood days the beach….bonus! Another plus is that it is not greasy or sticky in the least…it simply glides onto your skin with ease.

I keep Rose in my makeup bag at all times for little touch ups, and I keep Marigold in my beach bag when I am going for that bronze goddess look. Rosie Jane Cosmetics also carries an adorable line of eye liners, lip glosses and eye shadows.

Items range from $14.00-$24.00 and are available at and

Last Summer at MBFW Swim, I was most excited to see one of my fav brands, 6 Shore Road, for the first time in a runway show. This year, I knew that bar would be raised with regards to what they would show for their new resort collection. Her designs are always so chic, wearable and great for traveling! After 4 days of battling the Miami heat & humidity at The Raleigh Hotel, It was very apropos for me to complete the festivities with 6 Shore Road Sunday night at 10:00 p.m.

Founder & Designer Pooja Kharbanda stated that her 2015 resort collection was inspired by the beauty of Nepal. With sleek braids by blo Midtown, bright colors & tribal patterns, Pooja surely did not disappoint. 6 Shore Road also has the cutest knit bags that are the perfect complement to any of her bikinis & maxis. One of the best parts of a new collection coming out, is you can check out the sales on Shop Bop & Revolve Clothing to scoop up some of her other pieces at a great price!

I just adore their tagline, it fits the vibe of her designs so perfectly:

“From Resort Wear To Ready To Wear, From Am To Pm, From Beach To Bar…Meet Me There”

Check out some of my fav pieces from the collection below. That long white maxi is first on my shopping list. Photos courtesy of Getty Images & 6 Shore Road.

The tents have come down, the swag bags are gone, and the free cocktails have stopped flowing. After an opening soiree on Thursday and 4 days of shows at The Raleigh Hotel, the 10th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim has sadly come to an end. Can you say fashion hangover? Going through all the photos & videos I was truly blown away by some of the shows I attended. I decided to skip all the pool parties & running around town to just plant myself at The Raleigh for 4 days in a row, and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. I ended up meeting some fantastic new people & making a few new friends under the tents. #Bonus!

Friday kicked off with high fashion at Dolores Cortes in the Cabana Grande tent. We’re talking big, chunky gold jewelry adorning the teeny ‘kinis, models in stilettos and Egyptian-like high ponytails. Pure glamour! The weather was brutal on Friday night, but we were all in it together…and we didn’t care. It was the first night and not even the crazy humidity could keep us away.

Immediately after, we rushed over to the Oasis tent to see the highly anticipated Frankie’s Bikinis by Francesca Aiello. At 19, she is the youngest designer ever to show at MBFW Swim. At 19, I was attending fraternity parties & trying to pass Sophomore Accounting, so there’s that, lol. It was monsooning outside and at one point the rain started to come through the tent, but it was well worth it. Her show was fun & playful, true to her Malibu beach babe-surfer vibe. Models strutted barefoot down the runway to energetic tunes with long flowy beach waves and raffia bracelets/anklets. I met Francesca briefly last year during Swim Week at the Salon Allure showcase at the W Hotel, so it was pretty exciting to be able to see her during her magical moment on the runway!

Next up was Wildfox, where they took us on a trip back to the 90’s. The entire tent was jamming to Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy,” George Michael’s “Freedom,” and other great hits. I was waiting for Vogue to start playing, but sadly it did not. So much for my Devil Wears Prada fashion moment.  The Wildfox suits were cute & sporty for a younger demo. I ended the night with Beach Bunny, which was an intergalactic space odyssey. Intricate bodices, big hair and Louboutins made it feel like you were sitting front and center at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Cue the glitter!

Saturday was a short day for me with only L*Space and Mikoh…wasn’t feeling well so had to cut out of the festivities early. :( L*Space did not disappoint with their water runway, pearl accents and mermaid tresses. Mikoh began with traditional Hawaiian luau dancers before their island-worthy suits strutted out to the runway.

But Sunday….Sunday was my absolute favorite day! 4 shows were on the roster for me: Belusso, Luli Fama, Suboo and last but not least… my personal favorite….. 6 Shore Road. There is something magical about seeing one of your favorite brands in person. Last year I also had the honor of meeting Pooja & her team at the Salon Allure showcase at the W Hotel and attending the show, but this year was extra special. This year 6 Shore Road was in the main Cabana Grande tent and I had a great seat to view all the action. Sunday is getting its own post, that’s how amazing it was… Stay tuned to part 2 of my Swim Week coverage tomorrow! Check out the collage below of some of my fav snapshots of the weekend!

BEACHIs it getting hot in here or is it just swim week? Just a few days remain until Miami gets taken over by the swim wear industry! I was excited to learn that for the second year in a row, Ipanema will be the official footwear sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. Once again, the brand will host a poolside cabana at The Raleigh Hotel, also know as command central for MBFW Swim, for guests to stop in and peruse their 2015 collection of stylish sandals. Guests will also receive a fab gift bag simply for stopping by to learn more about the new collection. In the gift bag will be their official swim week sandal, pictured below. How comfy does that look? The perfect pairing for a maxi dress, your hottest swim week bikini & those favorite jean shorts you simply cannot get enough of this summer!

Suboo - Australian and International Designer

Well my Christmas has arrived… Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim is just one week away and I am already giddy like a 10-year-old on Christmas morning. This year, I will be attending & covering some of my favorite swim & resort brands. We all have our favorites in the fashion industry, and as someone who has lived in Miami Beach for more than 10 years, swim & resort wear is simply what I go ga-ga for. What does Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada say, “Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I’m on board?” Well I say “Give me a chic kaftan and a body-hugging bikini and I’m on board!”

Last year was an amazing experience meeting brands & covering shows and this year I am honored to be attending such  fab shows as L*Space, Belusso, Dolores Cortes, Suboo, Beach Bunny, 6 Shore Road & more.

This year is the 10th anniversary of this event and from July 17-21 we know they will be making each event extra special! For the complete event schedule & to keep up to date on which shows will be live-streaming, check out the main website here.

Everyone was talking about last year’s gold-tipped fishtail braids at L*Space & I can hardly wait to see what they have in store for us this year. As L*Space says, “The Water Is Waiting,” and I’ll see you there! But now the question is… what to wear?!
