Tori Praver debuted her new “Sonoran Sun” collection in the Funkshion tent on Saturday, July 18th to a packed house. The collection, inspired by her travels through Mexico, the color palette is robust with deep, rich cactus greens and sangria purples, which are infused with light and natural colors in sky blue and nude.
Another show I really enjoyed this year at Swim Week was Caffe Swimwear. Caffe designer Paula Saavedra is known for her bright & decorative beach bags, colorful palettes and high-fashion approach to resort & swim wear. This year’s show, held on the Wet Deck of the W Hotel in South Beach, was a parade of glamour and eye-catching tropical colors.
Happy Monday friends! The madness is over and I cannot believe another Swim Week has come & gone. Let me begin by saying, I really, really missed what was formerly known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim at the Raleigh Hotel. This was my 3rd year attending Swim Week, and it was definitely the craziest. Obviously because of all the changes this year, many shows were overlapping, several really good shows were scheduled for the exact same time, and different venues were utilized for the runway shows. At the Raleigh, which is known as command central for all the shows, you simply go back and forth between 2 tents for all the shows. This year, guests were running back & forth btwn. The W Hotel, The 1 Hotel, the tent at Collins Park and a few other venues. Needless to say, I am definitely in need of lots of coffee to make it through this Monday!
I find it interesting that many people who attend swim week don’t even attend any fashion shows. Let me just say, I am old (sort-of, ha-ha). I am not into the daytime parties, pool parties, lunches, brunches and the like. I attend for one reason and one reason only- the fashion. I love when the lights go down and the music begins, and the models strut their stuff on the runway. There is something so exhilarating about seeing some of your favorite designers and what they have in store for their Resort 2016 collections!
It’s almost that time of year again- Miami Swim Week is upon us and starting on July 17th, South Beach will be buzzing with swim and resort wear designers anxious to showcase their 2016 collections to the glitterati of Miami. With the loss of Mercedez-Benz as their presenting sponsor, most people know by now that IMG has taken the summer off in an effort to re-brand the event and come back strong next year. Not one to ever miss an excuse to party, Miami event planners, publicists and promoters banded together to continue this tradition and bring the 2016 swim collections to South Beach! Funkshion has also brought their A-game and organized several shows who were under the IMG umbrella in years past.
I am excited to attend several shows again this year including 6 Shore Road, Mia Marcelle, Mikoh, Frankie’s Bikinis, Tori Praver, Caffe (their bags are amazing!), Maaji, Acacia & a few more including a private presentation and dinner by Issa De Mar at the luxurious Soho Beach House. Shows are taking place in the tent along Collins Park, in addition to 4 major hotel locations: 1 Hotel, The SLS, The Thompson, and The W. Time to slather on some sunscreen, humid-proof the hair and dress to impress! I’ve gotta run because I’ve got some major shopping to do this afternoon. Have a great weekend everyone! xo, ~love~ For more information, visit the Swim Miami website & Swim Week Calendar here.
If you haven’t seen or been part of the media blitz surrounding Colour Pop Cosmetics, I urge you to immediately check out their website after reading this!
Back in March, I was sent a box of 5 of their shadows and one of their signature “lippie stix.” The colors were mostly very dark grays, blues and things that I wouldn’t normally wear (certainly not to the office) and the lipstick I was sent was a bright fuschia- very Barbie pink and another color I wouldn’t wear on a daily basis. However, the smooth, creamy consistency of the lipstick caught my attention and I started perusing their website. I placed my first order in April, then a second then a third. After testing out the products for a while I wanted to share some thoughts. *Photos courtesy of Colour Pop*
Am I the only one obsessed with wearing maxi dresses? Honestly, I don’t understand how people in Miami can wear jeans in April/May (ha-ha)- we are already having some days when it is so sticky and humid that I cannot bare to be so covered up! My fav staple is a maxi dress because I can throw on a blazer to wear one to the office, pair it with casual flats for a weekend shopping trip, or dress it up with heels/wedges for a night out.
